Wristory

Your Audiobookshelf library, on your wrist

Wristory is a Wear OS app for your own Audiobookshelf server. Stream or download audiobooks and podcasts to your watch, leave the phone at home, and pick up anywhere else right where you stopped.

Free, with no ads and no account beyond your own server.

Wristory's Audiobooks screen, with Search, All Books and Series

Built for listening from a watch

Everything is laid out for a small round screen and a quick glance, in nine languages.

Stream or download
Stream over Wi-Fi or LTE, or download books and podcast episodes to listen with nothing nearby. A storage limit keeps downloads from filling the watch.
Your place, everywhere
Progress and bookmarks sync with your server both ways, so the web app, your phone and your watch always agree, even after listening offline.
Proper playback controls
Chapters, speed, skip silence, voice boost, and a sleep timer that can stop at the end of a chapter. The next book in a series can start on its own.
Always a tap away
A tile and a watch-face shortcut take you straight back to the book you're listening to.
Works with home servers
Use a web address, a home-network address the watch uses on your Wi-Fi, or both. Wristory turns the watch's Wi-Fi on when it needs it to sync.
Looks like your book
Now Playing takes its colors from the cover, in a Material 3 design made for Wear OS.

What you need

Wristory doesn't host any books. It connects to an Audiobookshelf server you or a friend already run.

  • A Wear OS watch running Wear OS 3 or later.
  • An Audiobookshelf server the watch can reach: a web address, or a home-network address while the watch is on your Wi-Fi.
  • A user account on that server. Sign in with a username and password, or with SSO if your server offers it.

Support Wristory

Wristory is free, and it's made in my spare time. If it's become part of your listening, you can buy me a coffee on Ko-fi. It helps cover the time and the test watches, and keeps the app free for everyone.
